In 1999, a research project named “Research & development on information communication technologies for ITS” has been established in Telecommunication Advancement Organization of Japan (TAO) in order to promote the ITS information system spread by realizing basic infrastructure of ITS in earlier stage. This project has a plan to be continued for 3 years until 2002 and is composed of three main technical themes, that is, Wireless agent technology, Radio on Fiber communication system technology and Wireless multimode terminal technology. Among three technologies above, this paper describes a network concept, developed system configuration, supposed items to be considered and so on in Radio on Fiber communication system applicable to communication between road and vehicles.
