STANDARD IN-VEHICLE BUS FOR PUBLIC TRANSPORT – FIRST TRIALS

This paper focuses on the in-vehicle communication needs and emerging standards between operator devices (external displays, fare collection, GPS localisation, wireless data transmission devices, etc.) onboard public transport buses. It was found out that a suitable European wide open standard is under development, namely EN13149, and it's features are explained. The coming piloting site – the City of Tampere – is introduced and the latest pilot device details are presented briefly, because of delays, and there is only limited information available by the time this article is being finished. The latest results are presented at the conference.
