In this paper a study for an advanced system for the traffic control on a motorway pathis described. The focus is set on an experimental survey station, realised on a motorwayside, near Cosenza (I) and on a laboratory research developed in the University ofReggio Calabria. The first results obtained are presented, with a highlight on an originalprocedure of Automatic Image Processing which allows the design of vehiculartrajectories on a road section and the computation of a large variety of traffic flowparameters.
