Recently, cellular phones together with PDA’s(Personal Digital Assistance) have become intowide use, and the position information has come to be obtained easily by using GPS(GlobalPositioning System) or PHS(Personal Handy-phone System). Furthermore, a novel positioninformation acquisition system by means of IC tags [1] has been proposed by the authors.Under these circumstances, the need for pedestrian navigation system has rapidly increased.We have been engaged in the development of three-dimensional navigation system forpedestrians. In this article, the authors present a pedestrian navigation system, which utilizesJava and EAI to control the VRML viewer to improve the GUI.
