Methane steam reforming has been studied over a nickel/ceria-gadolinia cermet anode, over the relevant operating temperature range 550-750°C, for use in internally reforming intermediate temperature ceria-gadolinia based SOFCs. The influence of operating temperature and methane/steam ratio on the reforming characteristics, methane conversion, reaction selectivity and the carbon deposition on the anode during reforming have been studied by steady-state catalytic and non-steady-state temperature programmed reaction spectroscopy measurements.
