Planar stacks of the solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) made from CrFe5-interconnector were tested at typical operation conditions (850°C, 300 Ma/cm~2, H_2/Air). The cell voltage decreased during 5000 h up to 20% from their initial value. The used materials and their interfaces were analyzed after different times of the stack operation to find the origin of the degradation. The following effects were recognized: 1. Glass penetration in the air channels 2. Glass crystallization 3. Small damaging of the cathode surface at the air inlet 4. Change in the microstructure of the cathode during operation 5. Deformation of the anode by Ni-mesh 6. Sintering of Ni in the anode 7. Reaction between protective layer and interconnector with CrO_x-formation 8. Oxidation of the Ni-mesh/interconnector contacts in H_2/H_2O (1:1) atmosphere. The correlations to the stack degradation are discussed.
