This paper presents the field calcualtion of a current-carrying elliptical conductior in free space. The dc-field is calculated by solving the partial differential equation via the method of seqaration of variables and considering the boundary conditiosn. Furthermore, the internal inductance is determined and compared with the solution of thecircular conductor. In case of ac-current, the two dimensional current diffusion is obtained by transforming the general solutin inside a cylindrical conductor in elliptic-cylindric coordinates and approximation of the diffusion equation in elliptic-cylindric coordinates in a near-zone outside the conductor using Lapace's equation.
