SIMPLIFYING THE ACCESS AND ANALYSIS OF RADARSAT DATA USING OGDI

Since its launch, RADARSAT has helped scientists and environmentalists solving emergency problems with its ability to produce geo-referenced imagery data anytime, anywhere on Earth and in extreme climatic conditions. However, RADARSAT produces particularly complex remote sensing data, which access and use has been limited to experts. A new technology, the Open Geospatial Datastore Interface (OGDI), was developed to facilitate the access to geo-spatial data over any network. OGDI provides solutions for some of the most difficult geo-spatial data integration problems. These solutions include: access to over 50 raster and vector geo-spatial data products and formats; retrieval of metadata; coordinate systems and cartographic projections adjustment; uniform transient data structure; Internet distribution of geo-spatial data; radar signal pre-processing for rapid visualization; advanced spatial filtering and analysis operations. This paper proposes an OGDI Server solution, simplifying access and spatial analysis of RADARSAT data for popular G.I.S. and browsers while maintaining lean and easy-to-use applications.
