HAYNES 242~* alloy is a high strength, low thermal expansion alloy based on the Ni-Mo-Cr system. It is used extensively by the aerospace industry as a seal/containment ring material in a variety of gas turbine engines. ~1-3 the typical composition of 242 alloy is given in Table 1. The 8
