Among the organic molecules that have been proposed in recent years as basic materials for chemical sensors, porphyrins represent a very interesting class. In particular, their capability to modify the sensing properties as a consequence of only light synthetic procedures have been successfully exploited for electronic noses applications. Furthermore, they have been proven to be suitable to be matched with many different transducers, so that the optimization of the deposition techniques is fundamental from the technological point of view. Langmuir-Blodgett technique is among the others available one of the more flexible to obtain reproducible and reliable depositions of organic films. In this paper, the physical characteristics of Langmuir-Blodgett films of porphyring-like molecules are studied by using consolidated techniques as Kelvin probe and Scanning Tunneling Microscopy.
