On recent Tension Leg Platforms, single pile tendon foundations have been used in lieu of foundation templates. The fracture criticality of these piles becomes much more acute than ordinary jacket piling, due to differences in redundancy and loading. Minor cracks initiated during pile driving can propagate during tension-tension service loadings, which includes slow drift cycles to which the Vosikovsky jump in da/dN applies.
