In this paper, the pressure and the velocity distributions along with the direction of the fluid flow in a centrifugal volute are measured systematically by two-dimensional laser Doppler Velocimeter (LDV) when the centrifugal pump is running at three different flowrate conditions. For both the fluid velocity and the trace particle affect the accuracy of LDV, the measuring system is calibrated and analyzed, and some suggestions on the calibratio are given. The pressure distribution along with the centrifugal volute is also measured to explain the characteristics of velocity distribution in the Volute. The relationship between the velocity and the pressure distribuktion in the volute is analyzed at different flowrate conditions.
