Photodynamic Polymers with Controllable Degree of Functionalization

Photodynamic polymers, possessing interesting properties such as surface relief gratings among others, have attracted considerable attention in recent years and are promising for information industries such as data storage. However, the relationship between the degree of functionalization and properties of photodynamic polymers has not been investigated yet. in this study, two kinds of azo photodynamic polymers with different degree of functionalization were synthesized by post azo coupling reactions. The degree of functionalization can be controlled by ratio of reactants. Tgs of photodynamic polymers increase as the degree of functionalization increasing. The polymers synthesized exhibit significant photodynamic behaivor.
