A non-equilibrium model describing the adsorption behavior of the electrochromatogrpahy in a membrane spaced multicompartment electrolyzer was established, which recognized the mass transfer by electroosmosis. Analytical solution of the model for linear adsorption and the numericla solution for the nonlinear adsorption were developed, respectively. The predicted breakthrough curves showed a good accordance with those experimental results obtained in the electrochromatography of BSA on hydroxyapatite and BSA on DEAE Sepharose FF. These demonstrate the validity of the model and show the effectiveness of electroosmosis enhanced mass transport on the adsorption behavior of chromatography.
