We analyze the performance and stability of adaptive intermittent maneuver(AIM) strategy. The AIM strategy intends to improve the target observability by using an additional switching scheme. In this study, we analyze the guidance performance in terms of control effort and target observability for AIM as well as proportional navigation(PN) guidance. The results can offer a way to select the parameters of the AIM strategy. The stability analysis based on the Lyapunov stability theorem also shows that the AIM strategy is always stable for constant velocity target but there exists a finite convergent region for the case of maneuvering targets.
