Selective catalytic reduction with ammonia (SCR) is the only method used on industrial scale for the removal of nitric oxide from stack gases. Manganese oxides/hydroxides supported on active carbons or carbon modified montmorillonites were shown to be good catalysts at low temperature region (<473 K) in contrast to silica-alumina based materials which exhibit high activity at T > 573 K (1-3). The subject of this work was to study the influence of sulphur dioxide and/or water vapour on SCR catalytic behaviour for the Mn promoted carbon-modified montmorillonite.
