A Look At DB2 Statistics And Performance Traces

DB2 provides a robust trace facility that may be used to record information on a wide variety of DB2 data and events. DB2 offers six types of traces: statistics, accounting, audit, performance, monitor, and global. This paper will focus on DB2 statistics and performance traces. The statistics traces provide information about the DB2 system services and database services. The DB2 performance traces provide information about a broad range of DB2 events. This information may be used to further identify a suspected problem, or to tune DB2 programs and resources. This paper will look at the information contained within the statistics and performance traces, and how they may be effectively used.
