Recycling of Used Transformers Containing Toxic Polychlorinated Biphenyl (PCB)

摘要

The authors proposed a recycling process of Fe and Cu from iron-copper mixed scraps such as used transformers containing toxic polychlorinated Biphenyl (PCB) by using two liquid phases separation. Since it is well known that PCB is highly toxic and very hard to decompose, the safe decontamination processing of PCB should be also established in consideration of the environment and energy. Although the useful method t decompose PCB harmlessly is the incineration of it under hgih reducing condition (Po_210~-14) at htis point in time, toxic dioxins/furans (dioxins) might be generated in the incineration process.
