Science and Technology of Steel in the 21~ST Century

Steel is a basic material that is essential to the modern society. The Japanese steel industry wit its superior technological capabilities supplies steel on a constant basis, therefore contributing greatly to the industrial world. However, significant changes are taking place around the steel industry. In order to deal woth such changes, a new strategic plan is arranged by ISIJ (Iron and Steel Institute of Japan) to introduce new steel making technologies and new steel products (1).
