There are numerous reasons, such the saturation of the existing downstream sewer system or its concentrate discharge impact on the receiving water, for using stormwater infiltration systems. However, their feasibility within an urban development project depends on physical soil characteristics and contamination risk, and also on socio-economic consideration. The choice should be based on multiple comparative evaluations. This paper is an overview of feasibility and decision criteria, taking stock of currently models and approaches. direct C 1999 IAWQ Published by Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
