A small experimental reluctance machine with HTS bulks in the rotor as magnetic shielding material was fabricated and tested. According to the experimental results, it was confirmed that the reluctance ratio (the ratio of the direct axis reluctance and that of the quadrature axis) was improved, and the maximum torque increased by a factor of about 1.5.
