Small, robust, powerful and easy to operate spectrochemical instruments have been developed for environmental and industrial analysis. The instruments, which allow measurements of element concentrations as low as about 1 pg/g, apply absorption or fluorescence spectrometry and laser diodes as spectral light sources.The basic arrangement for speciation with element selective detection by diode laser atomic absorption spectrometry (DLAAS) is shown in Fig.
