This paper introduces an auto-variable speed system of hook driving motor for large crane. Three main problems which exist currently for many large tower cranes, i.e. low lifting speed, low power factor of driving motor, and poor reliability of torque protector, are essentially solved by the new technique presented in the paper. The proposed control system has been used successfully on the practical large tower cranes.
