Past attempts to reduce wind loads on super tall buildings have sought to resist the wind,often employing additional material for columns and bracing.This soution has necessarily limited building height and plan configuration,given rise to undesirable building sway in upper floors,and incurred large structural costs.In response to these shortcomings,a team of designers is attempting to combine airfoil technology with the dynamic nature of samiling vessels (mast and sail) and the static qualities of tall bildings to create a kinetic skyscraper: a smert hybrid armature-foil structure that works in tandem with the wind to achieve a state of the art synthesis between architecture and nature.The developmnet of such a building would ultimately allow for greater freedom in plan configuration and use,the elimination of building sway for occupants,and hte creation of higher landmark super tall buildings.
