The evolution of boiler control systems has followed directly from the evolution of electronics and microprocessor technologies over the last fifteen years. There has been much interest lately in the so-called intelligent control systems, which can dynamically learn and make decisions. They have the ability to react in a successful manner to a variety of uncertainties. The aim of this paper is to investigate possible use of advanced hybrid geno-fuzzy techniques for boiler control in thermal power plants. The problem addressed here is the drum level control, a difficult control problem.
