Green mountain power's searsburg wind project

Green Mountain Power Corporation (GMP) has been conducting wind power R&D since the late 1970's.Early on,the COmpany's resource assessment program identified potentially viable sites and monitored several of them.The focus soon turned to sites over 2,500 feet in elevation as sites lower than that did not appear to have sufficient winds.This created a classic dilemma because Vermont's development law,Act 250,considers land at elevations above 2,500 feet to be land for which development should be discouraged.
