Modification of the Mount Isa copper converters to feed a new sulphuric acid plant

The Mount Isa copper smelter was expanded in 1998 to a capacity of over 250000 t/y anode copper. This tonnage will be produced from a single stream consisting of an Isasmelt smelting furnace, and four Peirce-Smith converters - one of which was installed as part of the expansion project.
