摘要

The use of PZT (lead titanate zirconate) sensors and the FEA (finite element analysis) technique for the detection of defects in steel bars is presented. The approach is based on the auto-and cross-correlation analysis of the measured and predicted longitudinal strain waves that are induced in the bars via the collinear impact of a spherical steel ball on a plane end of the bars. Defects are introduced in the bars in the form of slots of constant width but variable depth.
