Calculations of TCE X-ray laser in nickel-like and neon-like ions

Calculations of TCE X-ray laser in nickel-like and neon-like ions is performed for exploiting the peak gain region in a TCE laser system. Several possible target designs are discussed and compared. A conceptual design with the aim to implement a compact "water window" x-ray laser in nickel-like tungsten ions is presented.
