It was difficult that Ammonium Nitrate released ammonia that took part in the condensation reaction generating the second RDX. Ammonium Nitrate let the oxidability of nitric acid decrease greatly, which was not only because Ammonium Nitrate could react with nitric acid to produce salts, but also because Ammonium Nitrate absorbed Nitrogen Dioxide directly which could catalyze the oxidation reaction.
