Overall isothermal crystallization kinetics and spherulite growth rates of a wide variety of isotactic polypropylene grades were studied using DSC and polarized optical microscopy. Reactor grades, as well as peroxide degraded and extruded blends were investigated. Equations which accurately describe the spherulite growth rates as a function of isothermal crystallization temperature were couched in terms of different molecular weight averages and atactic level. The number average molecular weight appears in the most accurate equation.
