Yunnan and Guizhou are situated in the southwest of China. According to the authors, the coal bed methane resources in West and North Guizhou and East Yunnan are estimated to be about 2.2 approx 2.75 trillion m~3 are exploitable. This paper presents the geological characteristics of Liupanshui-Zhina-Enhong coal bed methane field in this region. It studies the distribution of coal bed methane zones and the controlling factor of high yield of coal bed methane in this region and suggests the analytic method on the geological hazard for coal ed methane. At the end, this paper predicts the high yielding zones of the above coal bed methane fields and proposes thus the short-term and mid-term exploration targets.
