A CFD investigation was undertaken into the effect on flow through the cooling pack of changing the design of the bumper aperature of a medium sized van. A final bumper design based partly on the results from the earlier cases was then evaluated. The bumpers were modelled as part of a simplified three dimensional model of the whole vehicle and their performance was quantified by the volume flow rate of air passing through the cooling pack. The volume flow rates through the radiator for Bumpers 1, 2 and 3 were 0.087m~3/s, 0.046m~3/s and 0.067m~3/s respectively. The final design, Bumper 4 which was based on Bumper 1 yielded a flow rate of 0.089m~3/s.
