Yamanashi Maglev Test Line and Electromagnetic Characteristics of Superconducting Maglev

摘要

A new test line of superconducting maglev has been constructed in Yamanashi Prefecture, and the running test has begun. A priority section has a length of 18.4 km, partially with double tracks. The first train set consists of 3 cars which are articulated bogie system. The second train set is under construction. Two groups of power converters whose capacities are 38MVA and 20MVA respectively are installed, becasue two trains are operated at the same time. Both levitation and propulsion coils are arranged on the vertical surfaces of the guideway. The superconducting maglev system has its safety tested when coil troubles happended at the Miyazaki Test Track. Also the test was performed there to improve the lateral stability. An outline of the new test line is given and the test results are described briefly.
