A two dimensional and time varying numerical model was developed to simulate heat and mass transfer processes and to calculate evaporation rate and halite precipitation in the evaporation ponds of the Dead Sea. These ponds are located in the south of the Sea. and they are used to produce potassium by the Dead Sea Works Ltd. similar ponds are operated by the potash Industry on the Jordanian side of the Sea. The potassium is produced from carnallite which is precipitated owing to the evaporation of Sea water from the ponds. Halite is precipitated in the first pond, while the carnallite is deposited and coolected in the next ponds.
