The LEO operation of the SAX spacecraft imposed severe constraints both on the batteries and the batteries management due to the need to cope the high charge current, the number of charge and discharge cycles, the impossibility to perform a periodic battery reconditioning and the battery thermal control to guarantee the required performances over the entire mission time.
