An Approach to Ellipsis Detection and Classification for the Arabic Language

The phenomenon of ellipsis is particularly difficult to be treated automatically because it isn't usually easy to characterise the elements that we can delete. In this present article, we propose a formal characterisation of the phenomenon of ellipsis and a localization algorithm of elliptical parts of a sentence based on a clause parser. Then, we present a certain number of classification criteria of elliptical sentences to prepare the phase of resolution itself later.
