The clinker nodulization process was studied by investigating the alkali sulfate content of the materials in the cyclones and the chemical composition, alkali sulfate distrbution and clinker nodule microstructure with consideration given to the particle size distribution. Clinker nodules were classified into three types and each type had a different nodulization process. Clinker nodules under 0.075 mm in diameter were formed in the 4~(th) cyclone with alkali sulfate liquid and no further nodulization occurred. The nodulization process for clinker 0.075-1.2 mm in diameter varies, depending on whether the 4~(th) cyclone materials contain alkali sulfate and whether the alkali sulfate volatizes. Consequently, three different microstructures were formed. Clinker over 1.2 mm in diameter grows larger by gathering 0.075-1.2 mm diameter clinker.
