Slender technology for ultra-deepwater in the campos basin

This paper presents new technologies that PETROBRAS has developed for deepwater drilling, completion, production, and intervention. These technologies are being implemented in the Campos Basin and involve an integrated solutioin from the drilling rig to the type of well completion used. Particularly, the paper discusses rig availability and cost worldwide and compares it to the daily rates actually being paid in the Campos Basin. It also describes the main components of this technology such as: rig, drilling riser, drill pipe riser, wellhead, wet christmas tree (horizontal and vertical), casing program, and options for completion. Two wells have already been drilled in the Campos B asin. Results indicate that a significant cost and time reduction can be obtained with the implementation of these new technologies.
