摘要

We have previously reported blast coating method as a new coating method of titanium with hydroxyapatite (HAP) at room temperature. Blast coating method gives much stronger HAP coating on titanium surface when compared with those obtained by other coating method at room temperature. As an initial step to evaluate the usefulness of blast coating method, we evaluated tissue response and stability of HAP coated titanium implant made with blast coating method using experimental animals. The HAP coating stuck tightly on the titanium surface even after implant procedure. HAP coated titanium implant showed excellent tissue response and much better osteoconductivity when compared with pure titanium implant. Therefore we concluded, HAP coated titanium implant made with blast coating method has a potential value as osteoconductive implant materials.
