Microtremor measurements and its application to seismicmicrozoning of almeria city, Southern Spain

Andalucía, Southern Spain, is a region of moderate level of seismicity. In the past,big earthquakes have destroyed cities and the damage were so high. Almeria City has a populationof about 400000 people and this data is increasing quickly. The new urban areas are moving to softsoil condition and our research group is working to estimate the seismic vulnerability and the microzonigof Almeria City. In this paper we present the results of evaluating geological conditionsand also the microtremor measurements carried out in Almeria urban area; these results are the firstof those we want to get from the survey of seismic strong motion, the building condition and itsdynamical characteristics.
