Experimental and numerical observation of a cavitating vortex

In connection to experimental research on cavitating flow a vortex generator (delta wing) has been studied, where high speed digital camera photography, noise measurements, and measurements of lift and drag has been performed. The experiments show a cavitating vortex on the suction side of the profile. Further numerical simulations with a general purpose commercial flow code (CFD-ACE) shows that cavitation may qualitatively be predicted in numerical simulations.
