Latest advancements in aluminium metallizing of packaging and functional films

Changing dynamics in the marketplace impose new challenges on metallizing equipment manuyfactures. The trend toward increasingly thin films and the temperature limits imposed by heat s ensitive webs, requuires strict control of the critical parameters during the proceess. Substrate cooling and evaporation conditions being two of them, Metal adhesion and high surface surface energy o f the web represent additional requirements in order to meet the specifications of converting and printing companies. This paper reports the results of development programs carried out at Galileo in the area of film cooling.
