摘要

The effects of weld size on the ultimate capacity of a Double-Tee (DT)tubular joint under brace axial compression, in-plane bending (IPB) and out-of-plane bending (OPB), have been assessed using the general purpose finite element program ABAQUS. Non-linear effects have been included in the modelling. Three models were created for this study: one model without the weld and the other two with welds of different sizes. The resutls suggest that the joint ultimate load carrying capactities are influenced significantly by the weld sizes. The predicted bending strengths are generally higher than the lower bound or characteristic strength values calculated from API RP 2A and DEn rules, respectively.
