The tensile and shear strengths of adhesive joints under impact loading are determined with a modified split Hopkinson bar using two kinds of specimen geometry. A cyanoacrylate adhesive (commonly termed the instantaneous adhesive) is used as an adhesive material. The effects of loading mode, loading rate, adherend material and thickness of adhesive layer on the joint strength of the cyanoacrylate adhesive are examined.
