The relations of wear volume and surface roughness paramters under "zero-wear" conditions were obtained.Two roughness parameters: R_a and R_pk were evaluated.The fromer is the most commonly used roughness parameter in engineering and hte latter was claimed having close relation with run-in.Gaussian rough surfaces were simulated and used to observe the relations of R_a,R_pk and wear volume.The wear occurred in run-in is predominantly "zero-wear"To have an accurate and effective means to determine the minimal amount of wear during run-in is significant to the study of the run-in mechanism.
