Used foundry sands evolve from the various processes within the foundry. Molding, core making, and casting cleaning processes are the major arenas from which used sand must be extracted and disposed of in some fashion. The primary mineral in used sands is most usually silica sand, although Olivine, Zircon and Chromite sands nay also be present as either major or minor constituents.
