The dissolution kinetics of ferroalloys in a steel melt is detrmined either by a heat transfer or by a mass transfer controlled phenomenon. When the ferroalloy has a lower melting point than steel, their dissolution process is characterized by a heat transfer mechanism, and a heat transfer model can be used to interpret their dissolution behavior.
