We have introduced an estimator that estimates the sound field of a sound source - moving or non-moving - in a statistical optimal manner by means of a limited number of microphone signals. We have shown that the estimator provides a significantly improved sound field reconstruction as compared to existing methods. Finally, by means of practical measurements the applicability of the estimator has been demonstrated.
