THE VISUALLY HANDICAPPED AND THE SOUND ENVIRONMENT: VISUALLY HANDICAPPED PEDESTRIANS' PSYCHOLOGICAL STRUCTURE ABOUT THE USAGE OF THE INFORMATION FOR ROUTE COGNITION
The use of information for the blind mainly has two hierarchical levels, the use for decision of walk in direction or finding obstacles nearby and the use for spatial recognition of surroundings or distant places. The use for latter level participates with constructing two-dimensional images of geographic structure. The partially sighted tend to depend on visual information for spatial cognition, and pay much attention to audible or tactile information to avoid danger.
